Returning to the Screen

Story: The Sixteen-Millimeter Shrine
Written By: Rod Serling
Series: The Twilight Zone (Original Series)
Season: 1

An old movie star longs for the good ol' days, when she was a beautiful star in romantic films with handsome leading men. She wants it so bad she spends her whole day in her movie room, watching her movies on 16mm film over and over again.  She longs to be back on the screen, and no one can convince her to go back out into the world.  Her maid thinks she actually saw her starting to go into the screen at one point.  But she is convinced to try out for a movie until she learns she'd be playing a mother...and then the last ditch effort to get her to move on, a reunion with an old co-star goes truly wrong when she sees how old he has become.  Finally she gets herself fully sucked in to the movie screen.

This isn't the best episode.  I like the idea somewhat but it is rather bland over all.  I also don't think the ending is as shocking as they tried to paint it.  Interestingly. the next episode would be a far better look at someone who longs for the past.
